Since 1996, RFKC-Akron has been creating positive memories for the abused, neglected and abandoned children of Summit County, Ohio. Over the past 15 years we have had the opportunity to serve over 550 kids from the foster system. This year we invited 36 children out for a week long residential camp that included swimming, rock wall climbing, a petting zoo and so much more.
Our next camp will take place July 24-29, 2011. We plan to take 40 children with the help of 20 counselors and 32 support staff (which include a camp grandma and grandpa, a nurse, and licensed counselor) to enjoy a week of positive childhood memories.
As a camp volunteer, you commit to 5 full days in a summer camp environment. All camp volunteers are required to submit to a personal interview, background check, and mandatory 12 hours of training. You will be a part of an experienced team (ages 16-85) that will provide a fun-filled, purposeful week for the abused and neglected children of Summit County. Camp volunteers report that RFKC-Akron deeply impacts their lives and faith.
